Every language begins with a few signs, repeated until they carry meaning.

Girati has its own. A lily. A face. Stone left unfinished.

And now a fourth, written for the first time.

Four marks

The Lily

I

The Lily

The oldest mark. Florence has carried it for centuries as the giglio. Here it appears as ornament, as structure, and as the object itself.

The Face

II

The Face

Borrowed from Michelangelo. A figure people have looked at for five hundred years, made small enough to wear.

The Stone

III

The Stone

Each piece begins as a block. Part of it stays raw, part is polished clean, and the figure is never fully released from the material. Michelangelo left some of his sculptures this way. You can see where the work stops.

The Line

IV

The Line

The newest mark. Forms rebuilt from thin parallel layers, the way a model is sliced before it is printed. Up close, only lines. From a step back, a face appears.

This is where the old signs meet the way they are made today.

Four marks. Learn them here, and you'll recognise them in everything that follows.
